smiddy3 for me a born-in and my wife who was a convert was a big help in getting rid of my cult thinking. Also this site was a great help in seeing others who were going though what I was feeling. Between the two it was my salvation for leaving the cult. I went through therapy serveral years earlier before I left. It was the thing that help me wake-up. I feel everyone is different in their emotional makeup and some need more help than others. Whatever direction one takes it is all good if you are able to escape the cult. Take care and what a great topic. Still Totally ADD

Those that need to see a Therapist / and those that don`t is there a correlation of the two ?
by smiddy3 inthere have been a number of threads / posts here over the years about ex jw`s needing to see therapists for what they are going through , and i can appreciate that.. obviously there are many ex jw`s on here that haven`t ever felt the need to see a therapist ,and i`m just wondering why not ?.
why does one feel the need and another does not ?.
is it to do with born ins as against those who were converts ?

Why the Catholic Church outlast Jehovah's Witnesses
by no-zombie inmany of us who are old timers in "truth", will clearly remember how we and the organization gloated when christendom began selling off their churches, as we saw many ending up becoming cafe's and art galleries.
i personally remember being told (both in general conversation and in print) that the fall of their congregant numbers meant that most churches were ultimately attended by the elderly and it was clearly linked to the "drying up of her waters" in reference to the fall of babylon and babylon the great..
how ironic, that this very situation has now befallen the society and our local kingdom halls..

I don't know if this mean anything but my mother always told me when I was a child she went from a beautiful Catholic church to a dirty basement below a printery business. Yes today most KH's are nice clean buildings but they they just don't have the pizzazz the Catholic churches have. Plus they have been around since 300's AD and the Wt. has only been around for 140 years. Just a thought. Still Totally ADD

"The Calendar of Jehovah God" - a historical tidbit
by OrphanCrow inin 1935, clayton woodworth (editor of the golden age - later the awake!
magazine) devised a 'new' calendar that he proposed was far superior to the pagan calendars that have been used in human history.he wrote a three part series for the golden age (i am not sure if these were actually published) that laid out his justifications for how this new calendar was more accurate and of course, was right in line with the divine plan.
the calendar was published in the 1935 yearbook, but the watchtower magazine later published a retraction to the calendar.

Welcome to the board Peeringin. Mics on a stick started back in the 70's. The cords were pain in the ass. They keep getting tangled. It was great to go wireless in the 90's but for awhile we would get police and fire department singnals coming in from time to time. So nothing new under the sun in jw world. Takr cars. Has God broken the Sabbath?
by joey jojo inin the early 80's, i remember a district convention drama that featured the story of the guy that was stoned to death for gathering sticks on the sabbath.
i thought it was kind of harsh because it wasn't like the guy was doing any real work like building anything, or plowing a field.. if we accept that god is perfect, then surely he would set the example of keeping the sabbath in a perfect way.
the word sabbath means inactivity as far as i can tell and this leads me to ask a question about things god has done during his rest day that seem like work to me.. .

It makes as much sense as the movie Star Trek 5 when Kirk questioned god by saying "What does god need with a starship?" In other words it#s all made up. Still Totally ADD
